Reclaim Yourself

I opened my Field Notes journal book and wrote for the first time in a while. It felt good! It felt real.

Already, one insight: I grew up loving computers and now I don't. BUT! I don't use computers the way I did before. I am so far away from how I used them in the 80s that I don't recognize myself any more. Constant reading feeds, compulsions, etc. — it's awful for the soul. It seems like a good thing to read everything? But then there's that highly compressed sliver of "you" left at the bottom of it all, crushed flat and uninteresting.

So take a break, get off the internet and do some reading. Allow yourself (maybe you're a sponge?) to re-inflate and then get back to paying attention. Pay attention to what you love and then, without thinking, go DO it.
